Sanura Amhar is the daughter of Azia Amhar. Rised in
the Metro Detroit area, she spent her years going up
watching her mother perform and teach belly dance
classes. Being a mixture of both lebinese and African
American heritage she has spent many years learing of
her heritage. From a young age she dabbled in the art
of belly dance but at the age of 24 she really got into
the dance. Her first performance was for a Saint Jude?s
benefit. She now dances with the Desert Stars doing
festivals, parties, and also teaches beginners belly
dance classes. She has also studied West African dance.
Starting at the age of eleven, she spent aproximently
ten years dancing with the Omawali Dancers. Her past
times include (besides dancing) playing the
piano, reading and writing poetry. She also loves
children and plans on working with them in her chosen
career field.
