Rebirth

Its 2am, he’s walking
Those same cobbled roads he walked before
Where in centuries past he carved apart
Those immoral, dirty whores

His reputation precedes him
Although the assumption is he’s dead
If they just knew with whom they deal
It’d fill them all with dread

He’s walked this world ten thousand times
And lived since time began
He’s seen their cries through a thousand eyes
As he’s carried out his plan

Searching for that victim
The announcement that he’s back
Now reborn, lusting, hungry
The one that they called Jack

I think I may have posted this before ... but I'm too lazy to go back & check.

No matter. I wrote this in early 2006 & it's still one of my favourites.

Underneath the Soil

She was placed there in her burial gown
Within the velvet of her crib
And they said their words to Jesus
With parting wishes for her trip

And the Hail Mary’s echoed
Through the archways & the halls
As they carried her from that place
And laid her underneath the soil

Underneath the soil
Underneath the soil
Just a last breath from eternity
Where the holy water boils

It was seen to be an ending
To her life of sin & woe
But in truth it was the beginning
She had a Hell of a way to go

As the bishop read the eulogy
On that early Wednesday morn
They were waiting, arms outstretched
Underneath the soil

Underneath the soil
Underneath the soil
They were waiting to redeem her
With the promise of more toil

And as the red rose landed
On her wooden home from home
They had found her & were wrenching
All the sinew from her bones

Her soul was ripped asunder
Wrenched from mortal coil
By the servants of her master
Deep Underneath the soil

Underneath the soil
Underneath the soil
She was traveling home forever
Underneath the soil

Have a peaceful holiday everyone.

There is a light that never goes out - The Smiths

Take me out tonight
Where there's music and there's people
And they're young and alive
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one
Anymore

Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people and I
Want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their
Home, and I'm welcome no more

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

Take me out tonight
Take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
And in the darkened underpass
I thought Oh God, my chance has come at last
(But then a strange fear gripped me and I
Just couldn't ask)

Take me out tonight
Oh, take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one, da ...
Oh, I haven't got one

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

Oh, There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out

AN IRISH LOVE STORY

An elderly man lay dying in his bed.
While suffering the agonies of impending death, he suddenly smelled
the aroma of his favourite scones wafting up the stairs.

He gathered his remaining strength, and lifted himself
from the bed.
Leaning on the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom, and with even greater effort, gripping the railing with both hands, he crawled downstairs.

With laboured breath, he leaned against the door-frame, gazing into the kitchen.
Were it not for death's agony, he would have thought himself already in
heaven, for there, spread out upon the kitchen table, were literally hundreds of his favourite scones.

Was it heaven? Or was it one final act of love from his devoted wife of sixty years, seeing to it that he left this world a happy man?

Mustering one great final effort, he threw himself towards the table, landing on his knees in a rumpled posture.

His aged and withered hand trembled towards a scone at the edge of the table, when suddenly it was smacked hard with a wooden spoon!

"Fuck off" said his wife.. "those are for the funeral!"

I wrote this for my stepdaughter's 21st birthday yesterday...

Today you have turned twenty-one
So relax, celebrate & have some fun
But remember that you now hold the key
To be everything you strive to be

So face life afresh, with thoughts so free
Be the very best that you can be
And make us prouder than you already do
Remembering always that we love you

So sip some champagne & make a wish
Sample some of your favourite dish
Today is yours so remember this stage
When you finally reached your COMING OF AGE!
