He's back. Blood, dripping on my nose, thats what awoke me. Good, I need food. Wait, the blood is his. He's panting hard, moving to and fro, trying to get me to follow him. I sit up and then stand up. Stretching, I breathe deeply and the sharp, acrid smell of smoke hits the back of my throat, the sound of voices and howls assaulting my ears. Hackles rising I whimper questioningly. He growls in reply and turns away, eyes beseeching as he looks back over his shoulder. I follow. He bit the back of my neck. Hard. I felt the shudder run through me, from nose to tail. I could smell the dark air, the earth, the leaves on the trees, wet fur, blood. He was growling now and it rumbled through me together with the pain from the fangs still sunk into my neck. When the distant howl rose into the night air to join the moon, he released me and howled in response before turning tail and loping off through the trees, as silent as a breeze.
