Traveling, traveling, traveling… And putting the dots on the right places!
Well… I live in Brazil, in a town called Belo Horizonte in the State of Minas Gerais.
I left “home” (yes, it is true, I never really considered that town my home) on February 12. By car it took 6 hours to get to Campinas, in the State of São Paulo, where I was born.
I stayed in Campinas for a couple of days and then I traveled, with my mother and stepfather, to Doudados - in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul - to visit my ”big” (but little) sister!
The trip to MS was so long!!!! It took us 15 hours, by bus, to get there!!
Dourados is a small city, considering the size of other Brazilian cities, it has about 180.000 inhabitants and it is 4 hours (by car) away from Campo Grande, the State capital!
It is very sad to see how the forest is being devastated, on Mato Grosso do Sul. There are soya bean plantations everywhere now and sometimes, in the middle of the plantation, you can find small “islands” of native trees!
To get to Paraguay, from Dourados, you have to travel for 1 hour to a town called Ponta Porã and then cross the border to a Pedro Juan Caballero.
Things are a lot cheaper in Paraguay, because the merchandise can get in the country with a lot less taxes. So Brazilians love to shop there! ;)
In this part of Paraguay people speak mostly Portuguese (because most of the tourists that go there are from Brazil) and a language that we call Guarani – That is an indian language of a group of Tupian tribes.
In Juan Pedro Caballero there are lost of shops, the streets have no asphalt and there are people guarding the stores with guns and knifes! It is a bit scary.
After visiting Paraguay I went to Bonito!!
Bonito is a very little town, 3 hours away from Dourados. It is a place full of nature, where people go trekking, hiking, climbing, swimming...
I went there because I wanted to go to the famous Blue Grot!
So there goes Maíra into a cave and walking down over lots of wet stones! But it was worth it! The place is great and here are some pictures to prove that!!
After all this fun and another 15 hours bus ride. Here I’m again, in Campinas! I’l be here for another week or so!
I want to officially say I’m sorry, if I took a long time to answer the messages you’ve all sent! Thank you so much, for all the love and support! You are all wonderful. :)
