Attitude

The longer I live,
the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude to me is more important than the past,
than education,
than money,
than circumstances,
than failures,
than success,
than what other people think, or say, or do.

It is more important than appearance,
giftedness, or skill.
It will make or break an organization,
a school, a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday
regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.

We cannot change our past..
We cannot change the fact that people will
act in a certain way.
We cannot change the inevitable.
The only thing we can do
is play on the one string we have,
and that is our attitude….

I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me

This tale is another tale of how the world forms and shapes us and the pressure we can be under as individuals.

I had a young client come to see me last week, 22 years old, mother of a young 2 year old boy. She had come very reluctantly to ask for food. This was a young woman in what should have been the prime of her life at the bottom of the cliff.
I could see she was in a poor state, she looked so tired and under that knitted hat and dark circled eyes stood an extremely pretty and intelligent person.
Her tale all started with a car accident, she wasnt insured the other party wanted money and had threatened her. She sold everything she had that was worth anything to pay him, down to her fridge freezer.With the remainder of what was left he demanded $55 a week from her benefit of $140.
After paying for that and power and other bills she is left with $20 week for food, this she spends on her son so he doesnt starve and just manages on what people give her to eat for herself. This had been going on for 6 weeks when i saw her so you can imagine how undernourished she was.
Then to top it all a friend of hers had informed her that there may be an easy way out of her predicament. This was stripping! Well my client had to put aside all her insecurities and her lack of confidence and went to the club to give it a go, obviously the club owner was pleased to have her, she was young VULNERABLE and a great asset for his club.
Well she hated stripping she spent 10 hours and all she got was $25 for her trouble.
Her life had hit rock bottom when she came to us and she couldnt see a way forward, i let her cry for a bit then pointed out there is always a way out.
I called the benefit office and arranged an emergency food voucher so she could stock up her cuboards, i gave her enough food for 2 weeks. I then rang the person who had been fleecing her and negotiated to $10 using some strong language i have to admit and a threat of police and the papers.
She could now have a few weeks to breathe get herself back on her feet send her son to kindy as she now had clingfilm for his sandwhiches, it had even got as bad as not sending him because she couldnt afford anything to wrap his food in :(
She wasnt going to strip anymore, she hated it,

Doesn't it make you think that many of the girls who do this are forced by society, by pressures. It's not just getting involved in that seedy world and then getting hooked in, some peoplel have no other choice
