He claimed Canada was ripping off the U.S. in trade, despite the reality that the U.S. runs a trade surplus with Canada in many key sectors, including services. He dismissed Canada as unimportant, and not viable, yet his own economy depends on our energy, our minerals, and our trade. And today, he called us ‘nasty’ while insisting we were meant to be American. Meanwhile, Canada consistently ranks among the top countries in the world for quality of life, safety, and having the nicest, friendliest people. Imagine calling that ‘nasty.’” Canada isn’t a bargaining chip for the U.S. with Russia, or anyone else. We’re not a piece of real estate up for grabs.
