Memes are annoying. Why are they called MEMES, anyway? Dumb research to the rescue! According to wiki, memes act and move much like a (zombie, heh) virus. That's beside the point, though, just thought it was interesting. "Meme" was selected to describe how cultural information is transmitted (seems vague to me, too) because it sounds close to "gene," and someone noticed that these things tend to evolve and die off to the tune that genes do when Darwin hits the scene.
