Hey! I've been good. There's been a lot of homework because training for this job requires taking and passing a 400 level class that includes such "fun" topics as: fish ID, crab ID, random sampling techniques and surviving in emergency situations at sea. I must say though, compared to the mountains I see every day here, the Appalachians back home (which I would need to drive 2 hrs to catch a glimpse of) are mole hills! This is the first time that I've been able to see real, natural snow in the middle of summer! How have you been?

I'm going to be a fisheries observer. After 3 weeks of training in Anchorage, I will be sent out on fishing boats to count and measure the fish they're brining in. I do that from anywhere from 9-90 days (occasionally switching boats in that time) and then report to Seattle where I'll have the option to either go home or redeploy.
