In my introduction I told you I might not hang around forever, but I did not say I would not return. Born under a wandering star, I am compelled to follow where it leads: over a new hill, across a river that suddenly appears at my feet, or kayaking along that river looking up at cliffs so beautiful it hurts to breathe. Wandering is a way of life, meeting people along my road, some to whom I say hello in passing, others with whom I spend an hour or a few days in conversation before moving on, learning from them, sharing with them, adding to the stories that I weave into my tale.
I am a storyteller, a wandering storyteller, sharing my tales with those who will listen, whether in classrooms where we share stories of Canadian history or after dinners when the tales may be the Ballads of a Blind Man, sharing our history, or From the Back of Beyond when my listeners and I share the more immediate history of those who settled in Ontario's Northland.
The people I meet along path and people I have met since my childhood have woven their ways into my tales becoming part of tomorrow's history adding their colour and texture to my wandering and to the story of life.
Join me in my wanderings... it is always fun to have a companion on the road.
