2:50 PM EDT Sunday 19 May 2019 Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:
Sarnia - Petrolia - Western Lambton County Watford - Pinery Park - Eastern Lambton County
At 2:50 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and heavy rain.
A line of thunderstorms over lower Michigan may cross the border and reach the Sarnia area near 3:30 pm. They may reach a line from Ipperwash Beach to Watford near 4:00 pm. Winds gusts to 100 km/h are possible.
Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
