"What is worse than not knowing? To live or dissappear?" Is it better to believe you are right in your belief and allow that belief to hinder your happiness in this one life? Socrates once said "The only true wisdom is in knowing that you know nothing." If you agree with the age old wisdom of the old philosophist then you might be able to see how most religions demand that you except what is taught as a definite with no room for interpretation.
What if it's wrong. As the quote I opened this tale with asks, is it better not to know but to believe in something that focuses on something other than this life, such as an afterlife or eternal paradise, instead of living for the moment? All beliefs in something after death grow from faith, which is simply believing without seeing, hence no proof. Is that better than living right now? What do you think?
