three weeks of being
a river bed
by definition in transition
water down tumbleweeds, all

tongues and tears carve new paths for me
reflect off my shining skin,
cities tumble down my banks
i swallow sins whole, licking my lips
salts change my shade
my belly full of poisons
i stretch sinuously long
they grind their feet down as they pass
and watch the bloom of each bruise
we like to watch the floods spread
this valley is so old
