This is the intro to a story i'm working on:
Centuries ago, the coast of Aaurenth was shared by two peoples. One, the Tir, was a race of fair folk who lived on the cliffs and honored the heavens with their prayers, guided by the Avatar of the Heavens, a single person who embodied the will of the nameless spirit of the sky. The other, called the Dsevais, honored the ocean, having come from across it long ago in search of a new homeland and lead by their own Avatar. Guided by visions given to them by the spirits of ocean and sky, the two Avatars met and united the two peoples, cementing the union with one of their own. The two peoples flourished and lived in peace for many years until the people of the ocean, my people, made a terrible mistake. Even I do not know what truly happened, and as the people of the sky were all wiped out, I do not think I ever will, but for this mistake, whatever it was, our people have henceforth suffered.
However, it is said the dying Avatar of the Heavens gave my people a final prophecy before he breathed his last, a prophecy that promised redemption in the far future, and the Avatar of the Deep, grieving for her love, swore to never let her people forget.
We have not, and so my people have long awaited the arrival of a child, born to an Avatar of the Deep and a son of the royal line, who would grow to become an Avatar herself, and lead us to a new age. The prophecy tells that she will be a perfect match for the First Avatar, with eyes that match the sea, ivory skin, and dark hair; that she will be the true embodiment of the will of the ocean.
I am Aeriisael Devai Sarilya, the prophecy’s Avatar of the Deep.
