Letter to the Editor I wrote about where I work:
My name is Nathan Lefsrud and I have worked maintenance for Shawnee Slopes Golf Course for the past several years. I am responding to the "Golf Course sale fought" article in the Herald's Sunday newspaper, and more specifically Sue Saunders' comment, "[The golf course is] not loved. They're not watering it. They're not maintaining it." I have to say that that is a grossly inaccurate statement. As my summer job, I woke up to be at work at six in the morning to drive my machine, along with the dozen other people who work outside. We love our jobs and we love to go out onto the course for hours on end, to make it beautiful for the golfers and anyone else who might be looking at it. Amongst ourselves, the maintenance staff will discuss ideas and explore suggestions as to how to make the course better and fix any problems. We water it as it is needed. We cut the grass on every hole every day to the length it needs to be. And we care. We care greatly for our course, and we do all that we can to make it the best golfing experience possible. So take another look Sue Saunders.
