Leo has not returned. I fear his demise. Maybe the winter is too harsh for him to make a second appearance.

I embarked on a trip to see an invention of Shallowland called Christmas lights. Christmas is over but if Grandma wants to see them, who can stop her? Like the saying of the local folks go, "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy."

Loads of lights. Almost blinding my nocturnal vision.

Dinnertime came late, and we arrived at a tropical food restaurant that serves a specialty dish from the faraway Tumerica, also known as the land of Florescent Yellow Pee. Curry, it is called. Yummy but too spicy for an angelic kitten. I loved the food they called kebab, but it's a little unnatural for a small creature like me to savor the goodness of a lamb. This would have been forbidden where I came from. I tried it anyway, a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

It was an eventful day, almost wearing me out. My holidays are almost over, the year is ending and Count V needs finding for. In two days I will embark on a long journey over the clouds to the far east, possibly alone again.

I was awakened by an unfamiliar mew from outside of my door on Christmas morning. Aroused from my sleep, I opened the door to find a ginger tabby greeting me and introducing himself as Leo. Since all kitties are considered friends rather than enemies (except for certain exceptions) I fetched some sashimi bits for him. He seemed delighted and upon finishing up the snackies, gave me a nudge and whispered a little clue into my ear.

He said my trip was futile and that I should return to the tropical island to await more clues. But I should stay until the new year is over since it is inevitable that I should only find Count V. in the future. I spent the day doing my laundry, ready to pack in time for my flight on Dec 30.

This day has passed and it's puzzling that Leo has not returned for more sashimi. I fear that his identity as an informant has been exposed to the enemy and that he had been captured by the dark forces...

Every once in a while in the middle of the night I hear his bell ringing outside. I hope he can break free from his captors and arrive in time to embark on this trip with me.
