Ok...
I've talked about this before but it seems that I am target for all of the dating flash ads on the side of my facebook page. Likely a side effect of listing my status on my page, note to self: in future don't tell nobody nothin'...
But I get a great variety, I'm over 21, so I get those adds, I'm over 25 so them too, also over 30 so i get that set of ads as well. Most amusing was one that promises to give me the chance to meet, and I quote directly here, "potential women"...
Think about it.

Old scars...
I have a scar underneath my left eyebrow, I received it in what has to be my most serious medical event. I was very young, with blond curly hair as I had in my early days, and riding my tricycle up the road to catch up with my mother. For some reason I fell and cracked my head, received stitches and a mild concussion...
When it gets cold i can feel the scar throb just a little in memory of the event...

One of my most favorite things about the colder months is that you start to get mushrooms growing on your nature strip as the mornings grow damper and there is less light.
They are an odd and fantastic breaking of the suburban pattern, as they grow and give color to the normally boring grass strip outside of our houses. Other than the childhood connotations of magic and the unknown they carry, what really makes them special is that they have been there all along...
The Mushroom colony lives below the surface for much of the year and what we see are just the fungi's "fruit"...
In fact Mushroom colonies are one of the longest lived and potentially largest lifeforms on the planet... One of the largest covers over 2,000 acres and is older than Christianity...
Needless to say, I feel a little sad when I see that people have pulled their mushroom stalks out so that their lawn looks good...

Now, I don't actually drive. I can't drive, I never have driven a motor vehicle. I started a Volkswagen once, and moved my house mate's car a total of 10 feet down the street, but they are the limits of my automobile adventures.
I am what you would call a rusted on public transport user, I suppose that is the side effect of living in a city all my life.
One thing I get used to is that every morning I catch the train at about the same time from the same place. A lot of other people do as well, and over time I have gotten used to the silent extras that accompany me on my daily trip. The pale young lady who always looks like she is about to cry, the couple who get on together and separate half way through the journey, and old man who catches the train with his push bike...
Now when you change shifts, the cast changes. It's in a way like loosing a bunch of friends who's names I do not know, and with whom I have never spoken apart from a polite "excuse me" or "thank you".
It's a different world, shot on different film stock and with a new cast of characters. I'm even thinking of changing the music around on my ipod so it can have a new soundtrack.
Needless to say , I'll miss these new people too when I return to my old friends next week, a homecoming that no one will notice...
