Well, today was officially the worst day of my life... I had to make the toughest decision I have ever had to make... Putting my poor dog Bruno down. As some of you may know, he was diagnosed with lymphomacarsanoma about 10 days ago. He had received two treatments... the first one with amazing results, and the second one which started the trip down this path, with not so amazing results. Unfortunately, one of the drugs he needed to take, pushed his liver over the edge.... Just over 24 hours ago, his liver started to fail... We tried everything to try to save it, and him... Ultimately, I was forced to make a decsion that I hoped to not make for a long, long time... Continue battling and hope that his liver could recover, even if it's just a little bit, all the while having to keep him sedated so that he wouldn't be in terrible pain, or accept defeat, and end his suffering. Trust me, for every logical reason to put him down, I could come up with 10 emeotional reasons to keep going. In the end, not having my dog suffer was the only reason to say goodbye. Rest in Peace Bruno. You'll never be forgotten. Bruno March 15, 2000 - February 27, 2009

Today was both a terrible day and an amazing day... I found out this morning that my dog has cancer... Not exactly the news I was expecting to hear... Actually quite far from it... With him being a mastiff, and an older mastiff at that, his initial prognosis was not good. All of it seemed to hang on how the first round of treatment went... well, I just got off the phone with ICU, and the first round of chemo went amazingly well, (I was not allowed to stay for the chemo treatment). So, tomorrow we start round 2... Here's hoping for at least as good. While I was sitting in the waiting room as they prepped him, I found the following in a picture on the wall: We need another and wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals. Remote from universal nature and living by complicated artifice, man in civilization surveys the creature through the glass of his knowledge and sees thereby a feather magnified and the whole image in distortion. We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein we err, and greatly err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older ad more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are older nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisioners of the splendour and travail of the earth. -- from "the Outermost House" by Henry Beston

Well, I'm not one who usually signs petitions, as they rarely seem to work, but this is one that I hope does work. Some idiot thinks it's "art" when you tie a dog down and watch it starve to death. Please click on the link below and sign the petition, (and join the group here on Facebook). People like this need to be stopped! Thanks for stopping by and please sign the petition. "www.experienceproject.com/mk/walls/starving-dog-art-protest.php?p=6 622" You may need to copy the above link and paste it into a browser... there should be no spaces in the entire link, (but HP seems to put on there, so watch the spaces), and remove the quotes.
