Uuuugggghhuhhhh.............I love/hate spiders. I was talking to someone the other day about sensing when there's one lurking. There's this abnormal silence and there's an awkward, needly speck of sound behind the skirting-board. I hear the stack of paper beneath my bed move. I'd like to think it that maybe it's a gradual shift with gravity but I know otherwise, the cold, creeping tingle entwining in and around my spine tell's me so.
THAT'S IT!! I'm up. Leaping across the floor, up off my bed, I fetch my broomstick that also doubles up as a spear and grab the largest hardback book to hand.
Yes it's true.........I murder spiders :-(
The thing is though I really do love them. I find them fascinating. The way they move, look. My best friend Tor feels the same, though i'm maybe more of a fanatic. We laugh and laugh for ages exchanging spider stories. I even have spider jewellery and love cobweb lace.
I guess Ra's Al Ghul was right. In order to conquer your fear you have to face and become that fear.
Don't worry though, if you see a mad woman in red and blue spandex swinging through cities via rooftops it won't be me..............I'd have to wear black ;-)
