Buddy's tale, third chapter.
Encounter of the second kind.
A tall figure emerged from the snowy underbrush.
It was clad in various leather furs to protect it's bare skin from the cold.
What cold? Buddy almost pondered. He felt nothing, his thick pelt was rather bushy.
And why think of frost when the threat was rapidly approaching?
It had clearly spotted the tiny rodent and seemed rather interested.
Buddy noticed his fists where clenched. He was holding something very precious.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
Only a foot away. The hamster had almost forgotten to react.
He quickly snapped into action and sprinted away from the two-legged beast.
The creature followed the dwarf with intent, as one would follow a twenty dollar bill.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
Buddy was running as fast as he could. His muscles cramped and ached,
but he ignored the pain. He needed to escape.
He had never been so scared in his life. Yes, he could handle a rapture,
but this monster was much smarter than the bird. It probably had set traps.
Traps, yes. He needed to avoid them as best he could. He could handle it.
THUMP.
Buddy flew a foot into the air, and felt the metallic brush against his hind.
The human had gotten too close, he could not be distracted again.
The hamster briefly looked behind him, and to his terror saw the ugly beast.
KA-THUNK!
It was over. Buddy had looked behind, and ran straight into a dreaded metal box.
Baited, atleast. Maybe he would survive.
The thumping stopped and the rodent was lifted off of the ground.
He heard coarse breathing, then an exhausted sigh.
"I hope you like cages, boy."
