This is what they can not teach you in school. All the scholars in the world with their big fancy degrees can teach you about nature, but they can not teach you how to instill nature into your soul. They can instruct on the identification of any tree in any forest, yet can not provide you with the story each tree holds tight in its concentric rings. It's a literature not yet read in any university. You gain a vast treasure chest of knowledge, but teeter on the edge of loosing your soul to what society deems as the "learned". One must strive to not loose himself in the constraints of everyday life. We must fully grasp that we are but a speck in this lifetime. A small grain of sand passing through the hour glass of time. Yet man still struggles to drudge through time "lifeless".
As Thoreau once penned, “in nature is the preservation of man”. It has the power to purge, cleanse and renew. Be still for just a moment and you will hear the wind as it gently passes through the trees. It lovingly caresses every branch as it softly sways its new partner in a picturesque dance. The birds sing gaily as they watch their love story unfold. Little butterflies drift lazily into the wind’s mighty grasp only to be rocked ever so silently in the warmth of the summer day. This is the colossal beauty that nature longs to seep into the very soul of man. The knowledge that only nature can teach you is far more intimate and intricate than anything ever read in any book. Yes, my friend, this is what they can not teach you in school.
