Bit late but better late than ever Short Story 2 (Jane's little drama).
On her late 40s Jane had it all (?) A well respected publisher with a huge audience that adored every work that she wrote, a wealthy ex-model, ex-actor and now a very famous producer, access to all the city's famous and much envied parties and of course her own private paradise located on a penthouse with a view of the city (she loved to just sit and watch the city lights by night). Who would have aver though that she would manage to make it like this? Well frankly not ever herself could believe it. She had managed to leave everything that she hated so much behind. Her birthplace that reached town in the middle of nowhere, her parents with their moral teaching about the need to be united and love your family and of course her sister. If there one person she hated most it was her. She could not understand her, how did she managed to be so full of life and kindness, when she never achieved half of she had. But what she really hated about her was her way of thinking. Always open minded and progressive but never immoral. She had her own way of always convincing other people about her views. She could never forgive her the fact she got married to another woman? "A disgrace for all of us" she always told others. She was given that house after the death of both of their parents because she didn't want to leave the town and she never planned to get married not to full around with other women from god knows were. But then one day she received an invitation to a marriage that she could never approve. It was just out of her morals and believes. How can two people of the same sex be happy together? That was outrageous. After all it was her who always was doing everything by the book "The right way". If that was the truth then why she was feeling so alone?
All these thoughts came to her as she was lying in her hospital bed. She was diagnosed to be HIV positive two years ago after that trip to cuba with her friends. The doctors had told her that because her system had low resistance to the virus there was nothing they could do about it. It was too late for her. For all this time she had told nothing to anyone. Her relationship with Carl was going to worse. After the diagnose she couldn't even bear his touch since she was afraid that she would contaminate him. But she did 't have the courage to confront him and tell him the truth. And now here by herself with no visits for over a week. Where where her so called friends? They fled once they learned the truth and Carl had acted as she expected like a "Bastard". The only family she had got, her sister, didn't know anything about her condition just because her pride would not allow her to ask the help of a person so "corrupted" and "immoral". But was she? After all what she had done nothing to deserve her heatred so much? She was always the carrying sister that Jane would run when she was in trouble and she would always support her every time she an her mom had a fight. Now things had changed she had the sickness of the homosexuals (isn't that what they say that if you are straight you never get AIDS?) and the only person that could help and support her isn't there because she could never understand the fact that love never takes a look at the sex. How wrong was she. If there was a way to make up for everything before time was over.......
Days kept passing by, weeks kept passing by and Jone was all alone drifting ebven depper to her sorough. She had accepted the fact that she would die all alone in that room but she wihed with all her heart and soul to see her sister one last time and say how sorry and wrong se was. Then one day out of the blue she saw he standing on her room door just looking at her with that calm green eyes and that warm face and waiting.....
"Oh Sarah" was the only thing that Jane was able to say before tears came up her face.
