Interesting what has occurred in the wake of FB dropping HP for violation of their policies.
My opinion will not be a popular one...
Major out cry, indignation, screams of censorship, etc. I find this to be hysterical especially since FB has been 13 plus since long before most on HP even heard of Facebook. Public and plentiful sexual advances to strangers and graphic sexual imagery is required for adults to have fun? I think not. Nothing stops people from interacting in anyway they choose in private, it is the public nature of it that was the problem. The exchange of sexual imagery and such can be accomplished in other ways including directly via an IM client. A good rule of thumb is "What would you want YOUR 13 yr. old to see/do online"
FB had to change it's policies to comply with an agreement that resulted from legal action taken against them. They also had to start enforcing policies they were letting slide. HP MUST as an app of FB comply with those same rules. FB has never been an "Adult" site and never was intended to be.
The change represented no offense against anyone as patrons of this site which makes me wonder where the indignation comes from. We are receiving a service in accordance with their policies as we always have been. If you don't like their policies then don't use the site. Join Lavalife or AFF, better yet, go create your own adult sex fest site and play in it.
Though some of us are lucky enough to have accidentally met someone in FB/HP to bring to our real lives, it is important also to keep in mind FB is NOT a dating site and so neither are any APPs of it. I don't want my 15 year old daughter or 14 year old son "cyber dating" and I certainly don't want your 13 year old doing it either.
Now what do we see? The exact same content that got HP in trouble in the first place (and that has since been removed) is IMMEDIATELY being recreated by the same individuals. The attitude being that it is somehow wrong for this app or FB to protect itself from litigation or to comply with rules put in place to protect children from predators or content above their maturity level.
The most HYSTERICAL part of this is that until a couple of months ago NONE of this content existed in HP in the first place! More importantly it never should have because it was never compliant with FB policies. Give them enough rope and they do invariably hang themselves...
I agreed with FB's choice to bump HP. Even though I like the basic idea of HP I did not like the direction it was heading. It was one of the reasons I stopped participating in HP. Sometimes adults strike me as more childish than children...(I include myself in that statement)
No offense intended to anyone I am just venting my mind a bit...
