Blind Illusion by Mark Chiccarelli 1977 (damn, it's over 30 years old now)
There was a man who didn't laugh
At the stories told that day.
He lived in a world of illusion,
Yet he wanted it that way.
Tho he could see , he still was blind,
To things he wanted to ignore.
For in his mind, he lived for times,
When he could laugh once more.
He could escape, and walk away,
With the closing of his eyes.
And never know that all around him,
Was a world of hate and lies.
But the future's gone, within this man,
Who still lives for his past.
His present brings him, hopes and dreams,
In hopes to smile at last.
Tho he could see , he still was blind,
To things he wanted to ignore.
For in his mind, he lived for times,
When he could laugh once more.
But a dream's a dream, and it always seems,
That dreams just have to end.
For the man who cries, when he opens up his eyes,
Ends up laughing once again.
There was a man, who didn't laugh......
