What is essential to survival? We all need our pack, herd, flock etc., for companionship, nurturing, protection, hell even fun, and don't forget mating. Life is all about those around us and how we affect them or are affected by them. It can be a good life if we stick together in crisis, work as a team through most things, and take moments to reflect on those important to us. It is always good to have independence and tranquil moments alone, but to be lonely is like a vulnerable animal that is easy prey.

It is almost time to return to laboring at the office. Well, not real labor like some people. My little "pet" is almost a year and the time that was given to nuture him is up. It is saddening to have to give the responsibility to someone else for more time in a day than I will have with him.
