I'm quite new to this too but I just worked the thumbs out...like you I didn't know what it ment before..
You see the thumb next to the comment..if you go to someones profile and scroll down you will find comments like here on yours...then all you have to do is click on each thumb next to every comment and the person on that profile will get points...
Just watch out when someone on auctions ask to thumb all theire pages...some of them have 50-100 pages of comments...takes a while to go through...been there..
