I will now tell you a tale about my knowledge bowl meet. My team is very bad. We are supposed to have 5 people on our team, but 2 people quit...so now we only have three. We had a girl from last years team come back and help us out with the written test portion of the tournament, but she couldn't help us with the oral round, because she wasn't registered with us. Oh...not everyone knows what knowlege bowl is?? Well, I'll just have to explain then!!! It's a team of about 5 students that go to tournaments and compete with other school's teams. The written round is a multiple choice quiz with 50 questions. The oral rounds are kind of like if someone asks a question and there are teams, and then when you want to answer you press the buzzer. So, there are 45 questions in the oral rounds, and usually there are 3 oral rounds. But because this last meet was sub-sections there were 4 WHOLE ORAL ROUNDS! sooo intense. There are 3 teams in each oral round room. So, depending on how many points you accumulate, it determines what room you are in. Ok, so now I can tell you about how we did.
The written round we scored 35 points, which is pretty good. We were put in room 10 out of 19 rooms, 19 being the worst, 1 being the best. Where we scored only 3 points, it was a really bad round for us, but that's ok. Then the second round we got scooted down to room 13 where we scored 15 points. THAT'S REALLY GOOD! then we moved up to room 12, and we got 10 points. That's a decent score. We stayed in room 12 for the last oral round and got 10 points again...SO we would have done really well, if we could have just not gotten 3 on our first round. But, I had a lot of fun!
