Lumi was a sad little puppy. All her brothers and sisters had found homes, but she was still all alone in Old Man McCreed's barn. The other animals didn't like her, because she was so full of bouncy, youthful energy and annoyed them to no end. She was often seen nipping at the cows heels, trying to get them to play, only to be flung against the wall when they kicked her. It was a very rough life for Lumi. Then, one day, Lumi discovered how to get out of the barn and took off on a great adventure to the big city....

Ok, so I'm not a dog. But you get the general idea. I grew up in a small town in northern Michigan. I didn't feel like I quite belonged there, so I took off for the big city. Eight years later, I strangely find myself happiest on the outskirts of the city, in the country. Life comes full circle.
