Some people say life is like a bowl of cherries, but I don't think so; Life is more like a bowl of jalapenos; because What you have today Could burn your ass tomorrow

What does one look for in a partner? Someone to love me back as much as I love them Someone to cherish me, because I cherish and hold them sacred Someone who won't betray me, I will not betray trust or vows Someone who longs to spend time with me, I can't wait to be with someone I love Someone who gives of themselves freely, expecting nothing in return, I will give back more than I receive I promise Someone who will challenge me to live life to the fullest, I will not hold you back, only encourage you to excel and achieve Someone who will not grow out of love with me, I will encourage you to grow, and because I love you my love will grow with you In the end, someone who will stand with me, not in front of or behind, but at my side facing life's challenges with me because together we are invincible

Back in the summer of 1995 I lived in Germany with my family. My brother was getting married to a girl from the Paris, France area so we decided to go over for a visit about a month before the wedding. My brother gave us directions, which were real simple to follow until you get to the mess of a metropolis called Paris. We totally missed our turn which would have taken us around Paris on the south side and ended up driving straight into the downtown area. We were so lost, but we had to keep going until we figured something out so I just started letting our kids pick what direction we should go. Our kids were between the ages of 7 and 3 at the time. They did an amazing job of giving us a tour of the city, the next thing we knew we were driving by Notre Dame, and all of the other famous sites. Then we turned a corner and rising to the sky in front of us was the Arche de Triumph. Quickly I found a place to park, called my brother, and they came to meet us. Turns out if we had just continued through the arch we would have seen signs for our destination and would have been right on track. The next day John and his fiancee took us site seeing around Paris. Soon we realized that we had seen all this stuff (although just in passing) the day before. John and Virginie could not figure out how we had managed to drive to the area we had. Just go to show if you put your faith in your kids, they won't disappoint you.

One of the countries I have been in is Panama. I deployed to Panama with the US Army during operation Badger. Our mission was to help repair roads, schools, and other infrastructure. I worked on repairing a school in a small village a little ways out of Chitre. One of my fondest memories was every night, when we were done working, we would walk up the road to the local cantina and drink with the Panamanians. My favorite beer was called Atlas, and it only cost 35 cents a bottle, what a deal!!! One night we were trying to explain to the guys there what it was like living in Wisconsin during the winter. We ended up telling them it was like living in the beer cooler for 5 months of the year. Every last one of them shook their heads and said they couldn't do it. It was a wonderful experience, and the last day the families of the village made us chicken soup for lunch. And believe the soup was fresh and homemade. In fact we watched them kill the chickens that morning.
