So I just had my first attempt at making home-made whole wheat spanikopita....

It was a disaster. I had no idea what I was doing! What I ended up doing to salvage it (which didnèt really salvage most of it) was I rolled it into squares (big ones, think hand length sausage rolls)

and even then the philo dough kept breaking and the guts would come out (cottage cheese, spinach, and egg whites) making the pan stick and the outside philo dough soggy. The ones that didnt crack actually tasted okay, but they were so big! I intended to make snack sized ones, and ended up getting meal sized ones.

Make no mistake, this experience did not deter me from trying again; I just no a little better now. (I was told to cut them into long strips and then fold into triangles...this didnèt work well for me I found)

Why do I follow recipes sometimes...answer: I really just dont. I ALWAYS end up doing my own thing.

End of story: Some of them tasted horrible, and the others..not so bad. I wouldnèt serve them in a restaurant or anything, but itès only me whoès going to be eating them!

Money Woes:

So I've been very concerned over my finances lately. That is; I'm working 2 days out of the month and spending money like I'm making 24 k a year...Of course I feell that all of it is neccessary. Rent, Food, Acting Class, Dietician, Therapist, Voice Class, Travel, Cell Phone Bill, and then there is always the personal enrichment I get from going to the cinema or watching a play.

It doesn't help that I do work for free. This is the life of an artist I know. And it's totally worth it! I mean: i wake up in the morning and can't wait to start my day! How many people can say that? But then again, how many people can say they have a mortgage and reliable income with benefits. (god I want those benefits!!!!!! Dental/Medical/Travel/Insurance..!!!!)

But I DO love my life. Every waking and sleeping moment of it. I love the work I do, even if I don't get any financial rewards from it. I love the people I work with and the flexibility to do what I want when I want.

Sometimes I think we artists MUST have this financial difficulties, otherwise life would just be TOOO perfect. And we wouldn't be human anymore. Because after all, what was ever SATISFACTORILY gained without struggle? Without sweat, blood, time, effort, and prayer? Even silent prayers done when we think nobody is watching, in our most desperate moments...

So I just got back from NY! So felling in love with it..and am now serioulsy considering moving there permanently. IT's times like this where I wish I had duel-cizitenship; it really comes in handy~!

I saw Mamma Mia (my top favorite! But I'm biased cuz I knew one of the leads onstage!) and Wicked (Enchanting and answers a lot of Oz unanswered questions) Chicago (it was OKAY) and Phantom of the Opera (another favorite)

I highly reccomend Mamma Mia, Phantom of the Opera, and Wicked; in that order. I found Chicago was made for tourists...it didn't really fulfil my expectations. I also wanted to see Marry Poppins but I didn't have enough money or time; if I'd had another $60 (tix at discount price at the Marriot Hotel in Timesqurae; arrive early by 2 p.m at least!) and another day; I would've seen Marry Poppins. But I still had a blast.

I kept expecting my body as I was walking onto the plane to go back to Vancouver to involuntarily turn around. In my head I was going "nooooo New York!!!" but go back home I must...and did. Good thing too.. I only had $2 US in my wallet by this time!!

And it's snowing in Vancouver now! 6 inches and counting! That's a lot for us Vancouverites; we're not used to it. Ontarians look at us like babies; but we don't get it like they do all the time! Maybe I SHOULD"ve stayed in NY though; then I would've have had to deal with all this snow. At least I flew in safely though!

My new years resolutions: *by Sept, my 21st birthday.

1) Audition more! Book at least 1 lead role in a feature film OR a recurring lead t.v. series.

2) Move out on my own or with a roomate, somewhere downtown or close to it. Very Important! Furnish it and make it feel like home. I need to call myself fully independant and stop the long commute!

3) Get My N Lisence. (Do driving Lessons!) Also very important....

4) Be more aware of diet and excercise; Awareness and discipline can be improved upon. Do more Yoga for resistance training (I hate weight training) and maintain cardio.

5) Take some dance lessons; any kind. Learn how to move my body in a new way for physical movement.

6) Take some voice singing lessons; because I owe it to myself to discover new things. I also one day wish to be in a musical. Also! Make sure to work on voice (actors) EVERY DAY, even if only 10 minutes.

7) Get a steady Bartending Job! With flexible shifts and nice people and reliable income.

(I've bartended before but most ppl will only take ppl with years of exp, not on and off special events) ie: footbal games and showcases/banquets; but still!

8) Go see more local plays and screenings! I need to focus more on the networking aspect of my career!

9) Visit another foreign country/place on a plane or boat that I've never been to before; diversify my culture knowledge.

10) Work on my french/italian language skills.

11) Do more clothing shopping! See a stylist for appropriate audition pieces and adult/mature sophisticated wardrobe with colour co-ordination but honest and truthful to who I am. (All of my clothing is from highschool, I wear one pair of jeans only, and black pants with a couple of frequently worn shirts). I need more options that send the right message, professionally and casually. (unlike most girls I hate shopping...well dislike it greatly.)

12) Do more themed professional modelling shoots (with hair stylists, Make-Up artist, and wardbrobe people...they really make a huge difference!) ; AND get hardcopy portfolio togethor!! (rather then the online one I have...and CD!)
