God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
I read the Alcoholics Anonymous version of Niebuhr's Serenity Prayer since i was young but never quite comprehend it back then.;)
Many years later, having learnt it through experiential method.. i practiced it to my own hurt.
Come to think of it, i really do not think it it fair. But whoever said it has to be fair?
Come to reason about it, does it hurt to go the extra mile, be taken for granted and be the one to offer the other cheek?
Many things can be reasoned both ways.
All i can say is, there is pain in the offering.
