Rain
I walk down the blackened streets…alone
A stranger in a strange land…not of my own
And I look to the Horizon… see only dark confusion
I am deadly afraid, of this alien illusion
And I pray for home…
As I journey down, I look around me
As the air swirls in binding chills... then I see
The silvery shine of the night soaked air
I feel the dampness soak through my despair
And I look above…
The rain slick streets reflect the glow wan
Of the ghost lights above me... my mind it calls upon
To open the psyche and look past the strange
Of moving so far, so unsure of the change
And I open my soul…
So I let in the scents foreign yet familiar to me
Hear the soft footsteps of angels that I cannot see
Touch the slippery fence feeling of wet on cool
Evaporates the fear in me... that scared little fool
And it calms me…
I watch the water as it cleans land and air
It refreshes my soul, and in the world its care
Allows me to see the beauty below the dust
Replenished the Heart and restored the trust
And I am ready…
Just as the first morning sun brings a fresh new day
A new beginning no more will I stray
No longer the stained picture of an alien world
All washed away clean, the ugliness hurled
And it brings me peace…
