This is a poem I wrote in 2006, and I later composed music for it and made it a song. It's called "Eyes Can Speak Too". It was written about a person who I had overwhelming affection for, but hardly spoke a word to. It's quite basic in terms of language, as I don't think that one needs to use complex metaphors and such to get a point across. WARNING: Relatively high cheesiness factor.
Some would say we never talk,
Like we're strangers to each other,
That not a second thought
Passes through my mind, when I pass you.
But I know you,
And you know me.
Like the best of friends,
We know everything about each other.
We talk all the time,
The deepest conversations,
Because you see me,
And I see you
And eyes can speak too.
Every time I look at you,
And every time you look at me,
And we catch each other's eye,
We tell each other our secrets.
I ask you how you feel.
Some days you say great,
Others you say miserable.
I tell you not to worry
When life is going the wrong way.
I hope it somewhat brightens your day.
Because you illuminate mine
With your eyes,
Your smile,
Our quick glance conversations.
Perhaps I have illusive assumptions,
Or perhaps you don't realise it,
But eyes can speak too,
And everyday ours do.
