Oh, and to make things better, I'm going to be written up and talked to in an office soon. I brought to a manager's attention (in concern) that I worked past five hours without a lunch break the previous day. (Target has a thing that they must provide a 45 minute unpaid lunch for every shift that extends past five hours. They're extremely anal about it.) As I was leaving to sign out, I was told to help a customer shop (she was in a wheel chair and unable to push the cart herself). I replied that I was just signing out, that I was done for today (a 4.5 hour shift). My reply was met with a "Oh, just do it real quick. This lady won't take long." So I helped the lady (which I had no problem with, she was cool); however, she shopped for a little more than 45 minutes. I didn't think of the 5 hour rule since I had been assigned a 4.5 hour shift (and therefore didn't require a lunch) and the minutes rolled past by my fifth hour. Even if I had realized it, would Target really have wanted me to blow off the lady and tell her she needed to find someone else to help her since I wanted to clock out? Seriously? But addressing this the next day when I realized the error, I was informed I would be written up and "talked to." So much for integrity and honesty, Target doesn't find them necessary...

I know I have not been on lately at all, and one could probably put much of the blame to Target. They will now have me working 4 four weekends in a row (including Fridays). It's grown to be long hours of tedious standing and imbecilic rules enforced by a pathetically determined crew of aspiring managers (dream big). To suggest looking for another job is repetitive to the extreme (and don't worry, I'm going to get another one); I just don't like being treated like a hardly qualified idiot as I'm taking calculus, organic chemistry, and physics this upcoming semester in college. And being stripped of the prime hours of the week and being offered little rest and minimum wage for it (And not even that, sometimes. They underpaid me 13.5 hours last paycheck-- over a hundred dollars!) Story's lesson: Don't work for Target
