I feel like I'm in the twilight zone of the dark ages of the working world. First, I was instructed to fill up my Exit Interview form myself, and there was no interview to speak of either. The only human resource involvement is to put a squiggle at the bottom of the form. talk about formality for formality's sake.

Second, I am serving short notice. I was just told the amount I have to pay the company via email, period. So I call up the hr person and was told that I will get the breakdown and how the amount was derived... ... AFTER I've paid and left, from the payslip that payroll will snai maill me.

I then called up payroll and ask if they can shed some light, and they were scratching their heads as to why hr didn't provide me the details they provided hr! Bleats me man. I tell them I would really like to know what exactly am I in-lieu of since by my estimations, I do not owe the company quite as much as what it's determined to extract from lil'ol me.

Now awaiting the outcome of the great ironing out between hr and payroll. *stew*

Sometimes the ripple-effect just can't be fathomed. Just as much as I, a batman fan, would not have expected The Dark Knight to be such a success at the box office even after its phenomenal opening weekend record, I would not have imagined that 2 weeks after I resign, I would be sharing my notice letter with a colleague who came into this place just 2 weeks before me. What a strange but symmetrical pattern that makes.

Tired, drained and utterly flat mentally. I am so looking forward to having an end to this. I can almost see that elusive glimmer at the tunnel's end now. Have to confirm it's for real and not an optical illusion. Fingers crossed!
