Sometimes I wonder if audio artists and visual artists are the same. I personally am a better visual artist than an audio artist.
Audio artists play instruments that result in something we can hear but not see. Visual artists play instruments that result in something we can see but not hear.
A well written song is like a well painted canvas - it still takes time, thought, passion and effort for either one. A drawn piece of artwork (for example a major comic book) could take many people to fine-tune into a tight finishing - bands do that too right?
So while plugged into my mP3 and working on college assignments and I hear this wicked riff come up, dreams of playing my guitar a la Yngwie Malmsteen/Herman Li/Jimmy Hendrix etc. float around the back of my mind but instead of seeing myself play a guitar, I dream I'm painting a song and playing a piece of canvas instead.
I suppose it's all a matter of perspective really.
