Eclipse

I look up at the nighttime sky and see
The face of the Man.
When I was a child in happier times,
He laughed with me.
Now I search his face
And see only sorrow.

The pain shown on his face
Reflects what is in my heart--
As if I were looking into a piece of glass
That could see my deepest emotion.

My beloved sits half a world away,
Staring unbrokenly at the Man
As darkness covers his sorrowful face.
Shadow overtakes the light
That illuminates this darkest night
And the darkness in my soul.

Shadow from that to which he gives light
Covers his face completely.
Darkness surrounds myself
And my beloved.

Through the darkness-I see the light.
My gaze is drawn upwards
The the shadow--slowly uncovering the light.

I look up at the nighttime sky and see
