A tear is rolling down my cheek
As I ask for you,
“Why hasn’t daddy come back home?”
“What has he left to do?”
I’m holding teddy close to me
I kiss his fury head,
There are whispers all around me saying,
“Shame, her daddy’s dead!”
But I don’t understand it,
How can that be true?
Daddy told me this morning,
“Olivia, I love you!”
Why is mommy wailing?
She must miss daddy too!
Jesus maybe You can answer me
Is daddy there with You?
Yes my dear, I called him home
His mission there was through,
He did ask me to tell you though
How much he misses you!
Jesus, cant you bring him back real quick,
Just to say goodbye,
Else I’m gonna spend my whole life wishing
He didn’t have to die…
You know I cannot do that
He’s alive in your heart.
Keep his memories there too
And from there he’ll never part.
Daddy,
I’ll keep your picture in a frame,
Right beside my bed,
So every time I close my eyes
You’re the last face in my head!
Lastly, I want you to know
This lines engraved in sand,
Ill always be your little girl,
And you’ll always be my Dad!
