Love and happiness torn apart
Everyone caught totally off guard
About why this happened one can muse
All memories of him we will never lose

Lived in the UK till the age of ten
His mother thought best to move him to another den
In South Africa he reached his later teens
Then back to the UK ever so keen

The rest of which I do not know
Until on my sisters’ doorstep he did show
With helping hands of common friends
A relationship blossomed and soon they were newly weds

Ever recurring bursts of utter joy
A honeymoon and a gorgeous little boy
A beautiful family is what I thought
So happy, so loving and so adored

Matthew will always be a gift from God
Letting go of him has been so hard
But with us he will always remain

I sit outside on the balcony
Overlooking the water, the banks, the trees
Absolute splendour compared to the monotony
Of windows and walls that never cease.

I think of you, of us, what could’ve been
I long to feel your manly body against me
I long for your presence, your hold, and mostly your touch
Damn! The reality of this could mean so much.

Receiving your calls and hearing your voice
My heart races at every thought
I close my eyes and drift away
To a world so perfect, there is no grey.

Blue is the colour of you silhouette,
Resembling the peace and calmness I have met
Following that outline, yellow proceeds
Signifying the warmth you bring that my heart needs.
Deeper inside I sense your trouble
But that is yet another riddle

I easily confide in you all my worries
When most people have to dig deep in quarries
If this is good or bad I do not know
But your words of wisdom certainly show –
Prudence, maturity and understanding

Why is it that you have to be so far?

It's cold, it's miserable, what can I do?
I'm irritated and frustratred right through and through
My thoughts, my expressions, my actions and words
Mean nothing - just like random grazing herds.

I feel lost, abandoned and all alone.
I'm stuck with a voice - a silent drone
Who can I talk to? Who is there?
I feel desolate and nobody cares.

Mysterious happenings - a house so eerie
No appetite, no sleep, I'm growing weary
Windows are opened, curtains are torn
Yet nobody knows... the meaning is yet unborn.

They say a dog is a mans best friend
