i lie alone

the blades above me quietly squeak.

i hear the insects outside the window
they chirp a lenghty symphony lulling me to sleep.

but i cannot.

i roll over and face the cushioned wall
i lose space while i waste time
fighting a losing battle
a battle in my mind
a battle in my heart.

as the darkness creeps around me
my breathing slows
slows.

slows.

i begin to hallucinate about the objects around me
imagining things that aren't there
imagining places i should be
imagining people i should be with.

yet nothing is real.

none of this exists.

except the loneliness. the emptiness.

the lack of feeling. the lack of love.

and yet somewhere

but who?
