Noddy and Oddy. (Because the only characters with real novelty value are those that have yet to be invented...)
Their names are Noddy and Oddy. It's the only indisputable fact that can be established about these characters-in-the-making so far. The two met a few days ago, outside on a seesaw. Found at once that they were conducting a curiously perfect balancing act. Their names sounded exactly the same when paired, and each of them knew it. Even before the other had said it.
This illustrious duo is connecting to your world for one purpose only; to show you that the way highly addictive fictional characters are hitting the road can be way more entertaining than the finished product.
You are among the few lucky people witnessing the duo's first marketing round to producers. So here you go; this is a trial. Generally, that means one thing; the next issues will likely be BETTER.
The pair cringes at that last line. They have just realized that the character animation business is tough. And at this stage prostration is a cardinal sin.
Noddy - We must not lie to ourselves.
Oddy - Yeah. We needa, eh, you know, just be creative.
Noddy – Sounds so criminally easy compared to doing it for real.
Oddy- Criminally easy, you said, Noddy? That’s it. I have a criminal idea! We will stage a 'break in'.
And who knows, it might just be what they're doing right now...
Noddy happens to have a good telephone voice. She rings everyone in the creative world. And informs them there's a break in happening. And Noddy won't be Noddy if she believes anyone that's not buying the message.
So everybody, but then absolutely everybody she telephones gets the in(ter)vention!
This is meant to be a high point, Oddy realizes when Noddy books a success. And he instantly jumps off the seesaw to celebrate. Noddy, still on the phone, almost crash lands on the kitchen floor. Barely saving herself by hanging on to the wired telephone line, she dangles up and down for a few seconds and then slowly steps on the floor.
"That's going to serve us well when we do the Tarzan episode", she says rather matter of factly.
She might or might not mean the words. Yet it would be conceivable that we're spiralled off into a reality in which the Tarzan episode does materialize.
Something obscure floats into Noddy's vision. Only when Noddy bends over so see what the trickle is does it appear to her (and us onlookers) that these are ants. Previously it might have looked like a pattern in the carpet. But now it is definitely a trail of ants.
Noddy- Well, we've got real ants in the kitchen. It's a start.
Oddy - No need to be immediately so laborious. We have yet to see a contract.
But he joins Noddy who's curiously following the trail, observing one ant carrying a minuscule sugary lump, attempting to break out of the line.
Oddy - Duty calls.
