The Orphanage.
A foreign flick, with subtitles.
But don't let that discourage you from seeing the movie. Despite haveing to read, it's will keep you intrigued from beginning to end.
The movie follows the tale of a couple who have decided to start an orphanage for children with special needs. While preparing for the new arrivals, their son, who also happens to be adopted, disappears. The distraught mother is convinced that the ghosts of children took him, and pretty much spends the rest of the movie trying to get him back.
In a world of computer generated images and special effects, this movie holds its own by creeping veiwers out the old fashioned way. It doesn't need outrageous amounts of gore, or trippy looking monsters. Instead, it brings suspense and goosebumps with lighting, camera angles, and things that go bump in the night. It's realistic, and shows a more believable approach to telling a ghost story.
For anyone looking for a good horror flick, I recommend this movie. While it might not completely scare your socks off, it's eery enough to chill you to the core, provides an amazing story, and ends with a twist.
As cliche as it sounds, I give this movie two thumbs up.
