a chorus i heard of a song some years ago, it came to my mind when i thought of someone i held dear. unfortunately... well... thats the way my cookie crumbles.

-reflections-
there was a boy who dreamt of flying. there was nothing he wanted more on earth than to soar above the clouds like the birds. he ran across the fields, turning an ankle more than once, for he knew that beyond that was a very tall tree. tired, hopeful yet excited, he arrived at the foot of the tree. clambering up to the highest branch he looked 30metres down, nothing between him and the ground but air. fear gripped him. maybe this time he'll succeed. maybe this time he'll manage to do what he always wanted. the previous attempts left him with shattered dreams and broken bones. slowly he'd pick himself up again, physically and emotionally rebuilding himself. the wind rustled the leaves above his head. his knees feel weak. his heart thumping hard. breathe.

he closed his eyes, gritted his teeth, and jumped for the last time.
