A TRUE STORY
[told with gratefulness]
on a hot, rainy sunday afternoon this summer, we thought it a wonderful idea to go walking in the rain, naked on the beach. we drove down to Sandy Bay with wipers squeaking on the windshield. we walked barefoot down the path, splashing in every water-puddle.
we were alone on the outstretched, beautiful beach. the rain stopped as we shed our clothes on our favourite rock and strolled hand in hand along the wet beach... The sea was calm, almost no waves and the sun started pushing little rays of light through the clouds. At the farthest end of the beach, right at the rocks, just as we turned to walk back, a school of around 15 dolphins appeared in the shallow water - not much more than 10 meters from us. B try to swim out to them, but the water is icy cold, and he came out shivering. we stood there, speechless, just holding each other and gaping at the spectacle in front of us. for almost 30 minutes they played in front of us, sometime almost as if it was choreographed - they would jump out of the water in pairs of 2 or 4, and sometimes in opposite directions.
we walked on the shore along with them as they drifted, playing all the time, north-west up the coastline, until we could not see them any more... and it was again just the two of us and the pristine surroundings of this breathtaking part of creation.
what an awesome gift from the cosmos!
