It was a cloudless night, the moon rode high in the heavens, as i stalked the hillsides looking for prey. It was so bright I could see my shadow as I strode across a rock out-cropping, and down towards the thick,dark, forests of pine. I was alone as usual when I went hunting, I was very hungry too, it had been days since I had eaten.
I walked quietly across the snow into the forest, and stopped, certain I had heard the footfalls of something moving just ahead of me. What was it? I did not know. It's scent I had never smelled before and so I sat and waited for some recollection to urge me forward and hunt it down.
I felt a strange feeling in my gut, a feeling I did not recognize, I felt apprehensive, like I wanted to turn and run away! I, who have never run from anything! What was wrong with me? Why did I feel so uneasy?
I watched as a shadow crossed the hill towards the big rock, this shadow was unusual, it was a tall shadow, like a tree only it had 2 trunks for legs. It had two swinging branches on either side of it which held something long and wood like, only the light of the moon shone down and made it glint,like the stars.
This figure moved upward towards the cliff, it climbed and it was very noisy when it moved, crunching the snow, and stumbling over the underbrush, it did not belong here, in my woods. It did not belong here at all, but it was here! It was here and I must track it down and see for myself what it was.
I finally felt a bit more confident, as I realized this creature was moving away from me, it did not even know I was here, watching it. This was perfect, and so I got up and began to follow it and it did not take me very long to catch up either! my! it was very slow. I jumped silently up onto the big rock and watched it moving through the night, I was right behind it when...
