Haven

Losing faith in my own judgement.
Scared of placing myself in unsafe situations
And worried for my own well being.
Longing to feel protected.
Looking toward my God
Where I find my only safe haven
My only certainty is in Him.

Eyes

Drifting in and out of sleepless daze,
Where fake memories occur,
She wakes realizing this isn’t her
And place consuming her doesn’t exist.

Eyes deceive her little mind;
Making her believe she can fly.
Up among clouds, air whizzing by
She soars with eagles.

She blinks, finding herself someplace new.
Sweat dampens her lips,
While pyramids taller than skyscrapers
Overlook her small, frail body.
She closes her eyes
And wipes away the salty droplets.

Back in reality she learns that
It was just…
A figment of her imagination.

And gold loses its luster
As dullness shines through
