You are my water. You are the vast ocean that memorizes me. You are the foamy surf at the shore that brings me pretty things to wear around my neck. You are the stream; strong and determined. Your strength inspires the blood in my body to follow the path set by my veins. You are the lake; calm and gentle when I need it most, and rough and wild at the start of the adventure. You feed all the colors of the world with your presence. You feed me with your presents. You sparkle at daybreak and burn my eyes as the sun sets upon us. “keep them closed,” I tell myself. Sometimes I’m scared of drowning in you. Or have I already? The goldfish in the bowl, filled with you. I breathe you in. You are as unpredictable as the undiscovered river. Your rocks stab deep at my chest; they rip all my self-preservation aside. You fill all my left over space fully, and I feel weightless in your arms. I love being held by you. If the Bible specks the truth, and History repeats itself, then I hope it floods soon. Because I’ve become aquatic. I need you.

Blood is blood. What is blood? Birthed by you, I don’t feel like yours anymore. Earth elements, sticks and stones you throw at me. They burn like fire as you feed the hurt with your air. He is my water. The dreaming nest is long gone, as I rest like death and trace the patterns on the couch. Black next to yellow, you’re mellow. Black next to red, you’re better off dead. The diamonds on your back are clouded. Only the sky now holds the nameless constellations once reflected by the freckles on your skin. The damage is done. Step on a crack and you’ll fall and break your mother’s back. Mine is already broken. The wings I was born with can’t help me fly now; the weight of your heavy heart sinks me. Sometimes I want to smash the smile off your face. This is how I feel. Deal! Or don’t deal at all, you’re good at that. But it’s blood. Right? It is my duty to love you; I am your daughter.

The crescent moon was a warning sign; the sinister atmosphere smiling at her fault. Golden threads that ended in knots and bows; hibiscus embroidery on undergarments lost in use. She was outside the futuristic glass and mahogany. Sequins bent in half surrounded the scene, broken under the weight of this game. The dirty air came in frosty gusts that could have froze her bones. But she wasn’t there for it. Hands held longingly to her chest and wrists; like vines on a cement wall. But she wasn’t there for it. Everything was bruised when the sun rose; a blazing wildcat in the sky. Green to purple to black, she was blue. The glass turned into mirrors that proved ghosts covered in hints; tales of the night previous. And she remembered it all. All the captured vitals in the world couldn’t save her soul, for she weaved in and out of miniature trees with blank features and racing thoughts. What a spectacularly sepulchral creature. The princess of sadness raped by the moon, screaming, “screw you!” Hatred for all the hawks in the sky.
