Do u know what is General Adaptation Syndrome (GAS)?
I learnt this a couple days ago. It's body's reaction to stressful events which goes through 3 stages of reaction : Alarm, Resistance and Exhaustion.
Alarm stage is the initial reaction to stress and is marked by increased in fight-flight response.Fight-flight response is a response that involves many physiological reaction that arouse and prepare the body for action.For example, when u are exposed to stressful psychological stimuli, for instance, worry bout exams, fight-flight response will be activated. If stress continues for a longer period of time,will precede into Resistance stage.
In Resistance stage, body will consume alot energy to cope with the stress in order to continue the fight-flight state.If stress continues, body will go into Exhaustion stage.
In Exhaustion stage, it is marked by breakdown in internal organs or reduced in body immunity.During this time,u are prone to get infected and variety of psychosomatic symptoms such as cold, flu, sore throat and so on will developed.
