her quickened pulse has on her jugular
as if it were his prize
to watch it crying
out. again and again. as if the ever
hastening pace of the rhythmic
thumping in her neck was some burning
recitation of shakespeare
or thomas or corso.

and she with her eyes
closed, painting some vivid picture
of love in her mind or perhaps trying
to only feel this...
this that is now
in front of her,
believing in her.

but this is only her
closing her eyes to want.
