Tale #4 Today is my last day in Zamboanga, Philippines. I'm now within the last 45 minutes of being here and I'm sort of sad to see it go. -Sort of- I mean, it was really great to be able to get down and dirty in the jungles of the Southern Philippines. I've never experienced anything like it, it's definitely a once in a lifetime experience. If I were ever called upon to do it again, I would. Without reservation, I would love for nothing more than to come back to this country... the people here, for the most part, have been extremely gracious hosts and I have nothing but love for them. If anyone is looking for a vacation to escape the hustle and bustle of their lives, this is the place to do it. Look up Boracay Island or Palawan... it will steal your heart and hold it hostage. So, I'm off to Manila for a night and then it's Tokyo, Japan for me... until then... be safe and happy travels!

Tale #3 I travel to Tokyo, Japan one week from today. I'm really excited for several reasons: 1) It means that my time in the Southern Philippines is over. This is certainly not to say that I didn't enjoy my time in the Philippines because I loved it here and this country is amazing. I'm just ready to move on to something new and to get back to my life in Hawaii. 2) I will be returning to Japan. There's something about Japan that stole my heart. The people, culture, and food are all amazing and I hope to maybe live there sometime in the future. 3) My best friend Eric will also be flying out to Tokyo to meet up with me. I haven't seen him since September when I was home in Maryland. Since then, he's become an expecting father (again) and the fiance of a lovely girl. He's also leaving for the Navy in April so I won't be able to see him when I come back home to Maryland in June... so this is like a final hurrah as two single best friends. 4) Last but not least... I've had the opportunity to meet several people since my last trip to Tokyo (last year) who live there. I'm really excited to be able to hang out with them and have them show me a true Japanese experience. These are going to be the longest seven days of my life... tick tock.

Tale #2 I've spend quite a bit of time traveling around the world now and I have to say, despite the fact that I'm proud to be an American, I would love for nothing more than to be able to live in another country. I think this is because the opportunity to learn waits around every corner when you take yourself out of familiarity and into uncharted land. Traveling has helped me find myself and grow internally... I won't stop until I die, that's for sure. (Places I've been: Canada, Mexico, Iceland, Norway, Spain, Malta, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Australia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and various states throughout the US.)

Tale #1 I remember when I was a little kid, my family went to a family friend's house for dinner. While we were waiting for dinner my brother and I were playing Super Mario Bros. on Nintendo. We were eating these hard little candies... like a lollipop with no stick... and I accidentally died in the game so I said, "AWE!" But as I said, "AWE" I swallowed the candy and almost choked to death on it! I just remembered this as I was about to drift off to sleep a minute ago... I haven't thought about it in years. But I also remember a little bit after that, being so sad that my sister was eating Dorito's while laying on her back watching me play Mario Bros. I was SOOOO afraid she was going to choke too. :( I was traumatized yo! lol
