I slowly roamed my way across the black forest, filled with towering trees and frightening shadows. I gathered all my courage and continued my way forward, now and then seeing something move out of the corner of my eye but was not quite fast enough to see exactly what it was. Eventually I came to a large clearing and looked to the sky only to see a looming thunder cloud above me. An icy chill ran down my spine and I took another glance around, and there he stood, a sinister looking stag with some of his antlers missing.
I took a step back and pawed at the ground softly, trembling and afraid of the look in his eye. He began to move towards me, and I found myself backing away to the edges of the forest clearing. There was an anger in his eyes that I had never seen before and I didn't want to find out what he wanted from me. That's when he galloped forward and was in front of me in an instant. I looked up at him from beneath my long, gleaming horn atop my head and felt a wincing anxiety attack me.
That's when a shrill yell erupted from out of his throat and he snorted loudly. I bolted. I headed straight for the forest and picked up speed as fast as my legs could carry me. I could hear his strange angry groans and yells chase me, as his hooves gained pace and I could feel him closing in on me. I tried to run faster, dodging trees and jumping over dead, rotting logs. The rain began to fall and I could hear a clap of thunder roll over the hills loudly in a rage. My mane and coat became drenched with a cold downpour and I could feel puddles begin to form as I splashed through them anxiously.
That's when I paused. My heart was pounding out of my chest and I began to make a 360, straining to hear or see anything. That's when I saw him and it was already too late. He came at me full speed, he lowered his head and the next thing I knew, his antlers scraped all across my side. I could feel my blood trickle across my pure white coat as I tried to move away, but he raised himself and came at me again. I tried to dodge it this time but instead he hit my fore legs with his broken antlers and the next thing I know I'm lying down.
I struggle to stand, I can feel the pain shoot up my leg when I try to put pressure on it but I try again. He's standing over me watching, a fire burning dangerously in his mallicious eyes. That's when I remember him entirely, he lived in the forest I left. The forest must be dying without me, I thought, knowing that my presence left an imprint of healthy foliage and protection for all the animals. A guilt swept over me but I knew I had to be strong, at last I stood and stared back at him. I tried to appeal to him by making an attempt to speak with him without words, but he would not have it. He stared at the blood from my wounds and bolted away. Now I'm left injured and evasive. Unsure of what to do next.
